Claude Monet Field Trip.

Our homeschooling group organized a guided walking tour of the Claude Monet exhibit in the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Shatin. The group leader sent out a few links before we all went on the tour informing the kids of the life on Monet and his techniques. It was great for the kids to familiarize themselves with what we were going to be seeing the next day.

Our tour guide did a fantastic job of educating the kids and answering all of their questions. The museum did such a wonderful job of putting together a beautiful exhibit. Not only were 17 of Monet's painting available for public viewing, but there was also an interactive area that was perfect for the kids who were on the field trip.

Field Trip To The Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence {Written By My Son}.

This is my Mama's son writing this blog post. I was going to a real war place where there was once a real war. I was going to see my best buddies and there were other people on the field trip too. When I got there, I saw them. When everybody was there we went to the place where they put gun powder into the cannons. Then we went to the place where they shot their guns. Next we looked at the tanks and the disappearing guns on land and water. After that we went to the cafeteria and that's were I met another kid. He was a mine craft fan.  The boy and I had a talked about the game mine craft. Then he went home and my friends and I played before we looked at some more canons and tanks.  Then my family went to my best buddy's house, but that is another story.

The Philippines - Ayala Museum.

For one of the days I was in Makati on my own with my two kids, I took them to the Ayala Museum. My parents told me I've been there several times as a child, but when I was there nothing seemed familiar. The six story museum gave us great information on the history of gold in the Philippines, the influence of different pottery from China and surrounding Asian countries, and fun dioramas that depicted some of the history I got to live through. History in the 1980's with Ninoy Aquino getting shot and the EDSA People Power Revolution. My kids found it amazing that I got to experience it!

Hong Kong Science Museum.

We asked our favorite Auntie Andrianna if she wanted to join us one Wednesday afternoon for a trip to the Hong Kong Science Museum. This is definitely a the preferred museum for my kids to visit. We managed to time our visit perfectly when school field trips were leaving and the museum was relatively quiet. The kids loved walking through the mirror room and participating in all of the hands on displays.

Maritime Museum.

On one of the "free museum Wednesdays", we took our family to the Maritime Museum. However, we did not do our research before going over there, and did not realize that the Maritime Museum is a private museum, and therefore does not partner with the other free museums. We decided to go ahead and check out part of the museum, which was open to the public.

The Maritime Museum is on the water, next to the Star Ferry Pier in Central. The display that was open to the public without a fee was interesting to walk through. It gave a brief run through of the history of Hong Kong. It definitely has not been one of my favorite museum's to visit, but then again we did not go through the main part of the museum.

Hong Kong Space Museum.

Today we took advantage of the free museum admission day and took the kids down to the Hong Kong Space Museum. We spent most of our time on the first floor in the space science section before moving upstairs to the section on astronomy. We found some of the information on the planets to be dated and no longer relevant! Both areas were interactive, and after a short wait in line, our kids were able to take their turn.

We enjoyed the museum, especially since it was a free visit. However, it was not a favorite for either us as the parents, nor for our two kids. We had arrived later than we anticipated as well, and the tickets to the space show were sold out, so we were not able to participate in that.

Hong Kong History Museum.

My parents have arrived in Hong Kong for ten days of spring break holiday. It's so wonderful to have them with us, spending time with our two kids and letting my husband and I go out on much needed date time. We've been busy.

Whenever the kids are not in school for the week, we always try to take advantage of the free admission to all museums on Wednesdays. With my parents in town, we thought we'd check out the Hong Kong History Museum which is directly across from the Science Museum in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The museum was beautifully laid out and a wonderful walk through the history of Hong Kong. Hong Kong has really developed over the centuries. It has such a beautiful culture which is clearly depicted throughout the museum.

Some of my personal favorite exhibits are the permanent exhibits, like the exhibits showing the Han to the Qing dynasties as well as the exhibits showing the growth of Hong Kong as a city.

Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Our family loves taking advantage of free museum admission on Wednesdays. The most recent museum we visited was Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin. We rode the escalators up the top after deciding to work our way down.

The first exhibit we walked through featured Bruce Lee. Unbeknownst to me, we weren't allowed to take photographs. I really should pay better attention to the graphic signs that are posted. After we were told no picture taking, the guards shadowed us pretty closely making sure we didn't make the same mistake twice.

The other exhibits allowed for picture taking without the use of a flash, so I was able to take a few pictures. My kids have decided that the only pictures worth taking are pictures of them making goofy faces.

Our two children enjoyed the hands-on Discovery Gallery that was geared towards their age. There were several school trips walking through the area as well, which we would avoid the groups and steer our kids into areas less populated.

As you can ascertain from the photo's our daughter had a great time donning the little apron in the section that was replicated to be a village house. She enjoyed cooking for the rest of her family while we sat at what looked like a miniature picnic table and waited on our plastic food to be delivered to us.
