We are a relatively close family of four, in that we are each others best friends. As a general rule of thumb, we tend to do things together as a family. Moving is a family affair. Packing, for us, involves the whole family.
There are many ways we find the kids being willing to help expedite the whole moving process. They help move furniture, by lifting bookcases with us that have been sold. They push plastic tubs filled with books out into the garage for us. They empty their dresser drawers of toys into cardboard boxes.
My husband and I both feel that involving them in the moving process helps include them in the team aspect of what being a family is all about.
