How We Survived A Week Without My Husband.

Last week, my husband was away for work, and while in many families the spouse has to travel for business, typically my husband is home in the evening. That being said, I admire all of you single parents out there parenting and working on your own. Being responsible for two kids for long periods of time is definitely not for the faint of heart. Keeping in mind that we are now a homeschooling family, I wasn't able to send my two kids off to school every morning, so I was literally with them for the whole week and it was intense. But we survived and we were all alive at the end of the long week as we welcomed our favorite dad and husband back from work!

Meeting friends for a day at the beach helped pass some of the time. I decided to take a break from school for the week, and we kept our schedule open and flexible. We tried new foods near us and went exploring around Hong Kong. We went to the public pool where the kids let out their energy and I worked on my tan. We drank tea and we ate frozen yogurt. We spent a lot of time playing badminton outside on our patio because the small space in our apartment was getting to all three of us. And by the end of each night I would tuck each child into bed, exhausted and ready for some time to myself. I'm not going to lie, there was a night that I put the kids to bed at 6:30 so that we could all have our own space.

Finally, after our long week of text messaging and phone calling each other, I was back with my husband. To celebrate we decided to try a macaron toast box. That's a box of toast. Yes. Toast. And on top of it is fresh fruit and macaron cookies with whipped cream that comes out of a nitrous oxide can. The kids enjoyed it and I enjoyed being with my best friend again.
