A Birthday Spent At Ocean Park.

Happy Birthday to the love of my life. His birthday fell on a Saturday, and when asked what he wanted to do to celebrate another year of life, he responded with a ride on a rollercoaster. So off to Ocean Park we went, with our season passes in hand. We spent a full day taking turns choosing the rides, ate dinner at a restaurant in the park, and looked at a few of the animals. The weather was overcast with a bit of a drizzle every now and then. That meant there were no lines at any of the rides and we were able to have a great day!

During our educational trip to Ocean Park, I told the kids they could pick out two rides each to ride. They each picked out their two and we waited while my son did his first upside down rollercoaster ride. They are both becoming braver and braver with the rides they decide to go on. It makes me proud that they can conquer their fears. Me on the other hand, I'm getting more and more nervous when it comes to rides as I age. 

Taking The Kids To Ocean Park To Learn About The Animals.

One thing that I love about homeschooling the kids, is the curriculum that we use allows our schedule to be flexible. Which means, that we some weeks we like to finish up the week early so we can participate in other activities once our work is finished. I have found that it is so vital to the success of our homeschooling environment if I can keep the kids motivated. Keeping them motivated helps them stay on task and is a continuous exercise in creativity for myself to find things that will motivate them. This past week, we used a trip to Ocean Park to look at their animals and to learn about how to take care of our environment as our motivation to stay on task.

While Ocean Park is one of two amusement parks in Hong Kong, it is also way more than just rollercoasters and fun rides. We still have not touched all the animal exhibits and all the ways to learn how to take care of our environment so that animals can also experience a great quality of life.

Our family finally made it out to the other side of Hong Kong Island. Friday, my husband had the day off from work, so we decided it would be the perfect opportunity to check out the amusement park. One double decker bus ride from our house and we were right by Ocean Park. Ocean Park is said to be the largest amusement park in Asia. We purchased season passes for the whole family and met up with our friends.

I wasn't sure what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised at how large the park was. There were roller coasters on the sides of the mountain, cable rides with beautiful views of Hong Kong Island, and plenty of Halloween thrills in honor of the holiday at the end of the month.

Unfortunately, our daughter was too short to go on most of the rides, so my husband and I would take turns hanging out with her at the bottom of each ride while the other one went on the ride with our son.

Ocean Park is not just an amusement park, it has a large emphasis on animals as well. I was impressed with the animal conservation projects that Ocean Park is doing and hope to really explore the Aquarium and other animal exhibits in the near future.
