Elephant Show.

It was the end of our first week, and our host family thought it would be a great experience for their family and our family to check out an elephant show. Personally, I'm not a fan of animal shows because I knew the elephants were probably not treated right as they are taught to perform the tricks for the show.

We all piled into the back bed of their small pick-up truck and drove to the closest Buddhist temple where the elephant show was being put on in an empty lot.

When we got out we paid sixty baht per person and entered the arena. A vendor was selling grilled fish and drinks that came in plastic cups filled with ice {a nice refreshing drink in the heat and humidity that is Thailand}. For an additional five baht you could pay for a plastic chair to sit on. We decided we had paid enough just to get in, so we all stood or sat on the dusty ground while we watched.

Thankfully, we did not have to stay the entire duration of the show. Our host family had decided it was time to eat a late dinner. We said our farewell to the two sad elephants and climbed back into the bed of the truck for a forty minute drive into the main town.
