Monkey Mountain.

Saturday the weather was beautiful, the company was fantastic, and the view was amazing. We met up with friends at the Prince Edward MTR station and took the 81 bus to Kam Shan Country Park. The bus dropped us off right at the entrance of the park.

The views along the hike are beautiful. It's so peaceful to be with nature after all the concrete that surrounds us on a daily basis. The path on the trail was not paved, but there were stairs for when we had to climb and it was a relatively easy hike to make.

When we were planning the hike, our initial intention was to pack a picnic lunch with us. However, we were warned that the monkeys might be aggressive and try to steal our lunch from us. Instead we packed nuts and dried fruit. We did stop and have a snack break along the water for a few minutes. No monkeys bothered us and we were able to eat in peace. There were plenty of picnic tables and barbeque sites along the trail, so it must be a common occurrence to eat on Monkey Mountain.

As long as our seven year old son had a walking stick {aka light saber} with him on the trail, walking was not a problem. He was able to hike the two hours without complaining and with only one fall while he was being Yoda. Our five year old daughter did fairly well on the hike as well, although she did spend a fair amount of time up on her father's shoulders during the walk.
