Street Shrines

As you might expect, Buddhism is a predominant religion here in Hong Kong. While walking down a street it is common to see little shrines on a corner of each shop.

The shrines along the street are relatively small. Averaging just a couple feet in height and typically narrow in width. There is always incense either burning or having just been burnt. Sometimes there is an offering of fruit and cups of tea at the base the shrine.

When we were house hunting and looking at flats to rent, we saw shrines like these at the front doors of some of the walk ups we looked at. It amazes me how the details of each shrine vary from one to another.
