God's Will For Our Lives.

We've been corresponding with the school where my husband might be working at overseas. It looks like we will need to have at least 25,000.00 USD for start up cash. This would truly be an investment for us. There's lots of things we could spend that kind of money on.

This morning my husband and I were reading in Our Daily Bread. The opening sentence was, "What is God's will for my life?". Perfect for the decisions we are facing at this time in our life. The reading went on to reiterate what my husband and I knew. God's will for our lives is not something we have to search for. It's not like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 says, "This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob."

His will for our lives {and for your life as well} is simple. It's a choice. God gives just two choices: “life and good” or “death and evil”. He even tells us which one to choose in verse 19: “Choose life”. To choose life is to choose God Himself and obey His Word {which is Jesus preached about}.

"God’s will for us is life. His Word is life. And Jesus is the Word. God may not give a prescription for every decision, but He gave us a perfect example to follow—Jesus. The right choice may not be easy, but when the Word is our guide and worship is our goal, God will grant us the wisdom to make life-affirming choices." {Julie Ackerman Link}
