There are garbage bins set out around the city of Hong Kong that specify "plastic", "paper", and "waste" but Hong Kong doesn't have too structured of a recycling system. From what I can tell, the system involves little old ladies bent over in the shoulders from years of hard labor that collect trash from the streets on corners and then manually break down cardboard boxes and separate the styrofoam into different piles. Then you will see them pushing little metal carts down the sidewalk or the street to another collection location. It's definitely not an easy job and I am amazed that it seems to fall on the shoulders of elderly females.

Hong Kong's Form Of Recycling.
