From my years spent in South Carolina, I developed a love for grits, a breakfast staple in the south. You can imagine my excitement when a friend of ours brought it back for us from Georgia. Back in South Carolina, I had certain restaurants I would always order shrimp and grits from. Here in Hong Kong, there are no restaurants serving it {that I am aware of} and this was the first time making it for me. It's definitely not close to how delicious the shrimp and grits are at the Hominy Grill in Charleston, but for my family and I, it was a little taste of the familiar. Sometimes as an expat, you just need something familiar.
