When we volunteered in Thailand at a home with orphans, we realized that our children could handle more responsibility than we were giving them at the time. Since then we have our kids helping out more around the house. One aspect of homeschooling that I love is the fact that it gives our kids more opportunity to learn life skills of everyday responsibility like how to fold laundry and put it away, how to sweep the floor, wash dishes, and take out the trash. Giving the kids more responsibility has also encouraged them to mature in a positive way and they really enjoy seeing the end result.
