When A Shop Opens In Hong Kong.

It might be a store in the mall or a shop on the street. It could be a restaurant. Whatever it is, when a new shop opens up to the public there is a ceremony akin to a ribbon cutting ceremony in North America, but with a little more pomp and circumstance. An obvious sign that the store has just opened are the flowers flanking the store front.

This particular opening was for a restaurant in Kowloon City. There was a dragon dance performed in front of the store. Set out on a table was an elaborate shrine with two pigs and a whole chicken that had been steamed, with the plate of oranges, and incense being burnt. Champagne was opened and confetti thrown. This was a major celebration!
